Lithium Disilicate, found in brands such as Ivoclar’s IPS e.max and GC LiSi, is an all-glass ceramic material known for its natural tooth-like color and exceptional light-optical properties. While not as strong or versatile as zirconia, lithium disilicate is often unmatched in esthetics when used in the right indications. It remains the go-to material for veneers and other bonded restorations.

Zirconia remains one of the most popular materials for dental restorations. With significant advancements over the past decade, the newest generations of zirconia now feature multilayered formulations that combine exceptional strength with highly esthetic color and translucency. Using materials such as Ivoclar’s e.max ZirCAD and Noritake’s Katana lines, we’ve achieved impressive, lifelike results — especially in anterior restorations.
Provisional restorations (PMMA), including crowns, bridges, and implants, can benefit patients in a variety of ways. They are invaluable for evaluating esthetic and occlusal changes before incorporating them into the definitive restorations. This step allows for the construction and verification of all aspects of the case, ensuring the final result is completely predictable and satisfactory, especially for restorations involving three or more units.
In some cases, a provisional restoration may also be used to provide a coronal buildup for isolation purposes during endodontic treatment.

During the initial custom shading appointment at our lab, our technicians take a series of detailed photos, create a personalized color shade palette, and design diagrams to ensure a flawless restoration. They also collaborate closely with our design team to determine if any material adjustments or additional input are needed. In most cases, the patient returns for a verification appointment before final delivery to confirm a perfect match, allowing for any quick adjustments if necessary.
While we highly recommend having patients visit our lab for the best results, we understand that’s not always possible. In those cases, we offer custom shading from high-quality photos.
To achieve the most accurate results, please provide:
A clear photo of the patient smiling, the stump shade, and several visible shade tabs within the photo.
For best results, remember, the clearer the photo, the better the outcome.

We understand that visual aids can make understanding changes much easier, especially for patients. By completing a Diagnostic Wax-Up (DWU) before discussing the proposed treatment plan, clinicians can confirm that the plan is achievable. The DWU serves as a diagnostic tool to establish desired esthetic changes — including tooth position, alignment, inclination, proportion, and morphology — and to develop or verify the occlusal scheme and function.
We can also provide screenshots, printed models, prep guides, and putty matrices, giving you and your staff more time and efficiency during appointments.
